La Grange — Frayssinet

‘La Grange’ is situated on the edge of a quiet rural village midway between the Lot and Dordogne valleys in South West France, an ideal location for a quiet holiday in France.
Country setting but convenient for A20 autoroute and RN20 giving easy access to the surrounding area including the medieval towns of Gourdon and historic Cahors set within a loop on the river Lot. Domme, Sarlat, Rocamadour, Padirac and the river Dordogne are a short drive north, and equidistant southwards is the unspoilt valley of the river Lot with riverside hamlets and the beautiful village of St-Cirq-Lapopie set in a cliff face overlooking the river. Traditional festivals and fetes are often held in nearby villages and the area is ideal for day trips, walking and canoeing. ‘La Grange’ makes an ideal holiday base for one or two families or a group of friends. For a fun and relaxing holiday destination, the area is hard to beat.
Beautifully converted to a high standard, the property makes an ideal holiday home from which to explore this beautiful unspoilt region. The lack of traffic offers many cycling opportunities whilst the rivers Cele, Lot and Dordogne offer canoeing for all the family. Golf, fishing and tennis are all available locally. There are caves to visit including the world famous Les Eyzies with 49 million year old cave paintings and others with stunning caverns of stalactites and stalagmites.
As one of the great gastronomic regions of France, the area has many wonderful restaurants (most child friendly) serving high quality dishes at reasonable prices. In addition, there are an abundance of traditional French markets selling everything from food and wne to pottery and antiques.
The Property
Originally a barn, the property has been restored to a high standard in a contemporary style whilst retaining the character with exposed beams and stonework etc. Solid hardwood flooring in the living room and throughout the upstairs provides a light airy environment. Electric central heating ensures a comfortable temperature for guests at cooler times of year.
There is a large kitchen/ diner fully fitted with top quality fridge freezer, double oven, ceramic hob, washing machine and dishwasher. The table provides seating for up to nine people. The downstairs shower room and WC are easily accessible from the pool area.
The living room features comfortable quality leather sofas and two easy chairs. Full internet access is provided along with English TV and video, CD player and a selection of board games.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two doubles (one king size bed) and two twin rooms, most suitable for 4 adults and 4 children or 6 adults. One twin and one double room have air conditioning units installed for heating and cooling. The bathroom has a full size bath with shower, basin and WC along with great views across the valley.
Conveniently situated immediately outside the kitchen is a large covered terrace overlooking the pool (good for keeping an eye on children) that provides a shady eating area, with a modern gas barbeque. The ‘top’ garden shown in the photo is laid to grass and offers a great play area for children.

Travel notes
- Travel to the region is very easy with various options. If you choose to drive, the most convenient route is the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre. With motorway virtually all the way (430 miles approx) most people will get there in time for a very late lunch even in the peak season. Alternatively you can fly direct to Toulouse (1hr 45 mins drive from La Grange) or Bergerac (1hr 30 mins) and hire a car.
