At Le Vieux Couvent we will take care of everything. Just relax.

Come to our picturesque haven, in rural southwest France. Le Vieux Couvent, a former 17th century convent, with its charming central courtyard and its offering of comfortable rooms, many en suite, is available for special events, independent groups and our popular Creative Holidays.

Enroll in one of our creative holidays or, subject to availability bring your own group to enjoy our hospitality.

Groups we have hosted include yoga retreats, singing workshops, creative writing workshops, personal reflection retreats, French immersion courses, gourmet taste tours of the region, and wine tasting tours.

We have gathered a folder of accolades for the "holiday of a lifetime" during our fifteen years' experience as hosts of Le Vieux Couvent - because of our tutors, our gourmet menus, our guided excursions, and, above all, our attention to detail. Come and enjoy.

Accommodation:

Known as a haven for visiting groups or a one-of-a-kind romantic getaway, Le Vieux Couvent is a truly magical experience. Nestled on a hilltop overlooking the small village of Frayssinet, Le Vieux Couvent is just across from a historical church. This former 17th century convent offers sensitively renovated rooms, each with its own unique personality. Acacia, overlooking the historic church tower, is furnished with a canopy bed reflecting the medieval history of the building. Look from the window of Rosette into the rose filled courtyard below or make yourself at home in Caprice with its private entrance and queen sized four poster bed with en suite full bathroom.

Behind the ancient stone wall of the convent you will discover the blooming courtyard where we often serve lunch and dinner to our guests. There are winding pathways through lush floral gardens where you will discover the lily pond and the naturally landscaped swimming pools. The former girls’ schoolroom, just overlooking the main courtyard, has been converted into a light and airy studio space that can be used for groups of any sort.
We cater for all tastes, be it lovers of traditional French cuisine or those who prefer vegetarian dishes. We do our best to accommodate to special dietary requirements. And whilst guests are staying at Le Vieux Couvent we provide transport, bilingual guides, information, and assistance.

Creative Holidays:

Le Vieux Couvent offers the best of painting holidays here in France. Bringing their expertise, our guest artists are masters at their craft. You will have the opportunity to paint, draw, and explore your creative side. Encouraged by our brilliant artists, the sublime landscapes, tranquil villages, and historic buildings are sure to inspire you! Join one of our holidays, or bring your own group.

Weddings:

We also specialise in wedding receptions taking care of all arrangements from the prenuptial dinner, French civil ceremony, breakfasts, and banquets. We provide country inn accommodation for up to 20 guests, and can arrange additional rooms elsewhere locally. Let us smooth the path for your romantic French country wedding. We will create a warm and welcoming environment for you and your guests. Stay in our charming rooms, relax in our peaceful gardens and we will make your experience as pleasant, enjoyable, and memorable as possible.

The Region:

A striking visual paradise for artists and photographers, your lasting impression will be of colours - azure blue sky, rust red tile roofs, and honey coloured centuries-old stone buildings. This area of rural France has wildflower meadows, ancient dry stone walls and pathways through gnarled oak forests, providing opportunities for walking, bicycling or horseback riding.

Words from our appreciative guests:

"...above all, of course, the company of friends old and new, and the superb hospitality of resident Magicians Corinne and Bill. Powerful magic for an unforgettable vacation. May the magic continue - we want to come back a lot."
